Stations of democracy: A rolling exhibition

Discipline: Exhibition Concept and Design
Year: 2016

To introduce a new subway line connecting the central train station, Reichstag Building and Brandenburg Gate, the BVG asked for a simple exhibition concept to entertain and inform passengers about the historical area. The ride only takes five minutes and the passengers are mainly tourists. The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is the main public transport company in Berlin.

The quote by the former chancellor Willy Brandt invites the passengers to enter the rolling exhibition about the history of German democracy.
20 impressions represent German history that took place around the Reichstag Building and span a wide range from the wars through rehabilitation all the way to times of joy. Such events include: the proclamation of the republic (1918), the Reichstag fire (1933), the fall of the Wall (1989), and Jeanne-Claude and Christo's wrapping of the Reichstag, as well as the athletics world championship (2009).

"The five-minute exhibition is a crash course in German democracy." – Dr. Norbert Lammert (President of the Bundestag)
